Q1. What is the process for starting ABA services?

Once we receive the Contact form from you, one of our Intake Specialists will reach out to you to verify your child's eligibility. Then we request an Initial Assessment from your insurance plan.

It typically takes 2 weeks to receive an authorization from your insurance to conduct the assessment. The assessment taks anywhere between 2-4 weeks, and it consists of 2-4 visits. Then the assessment report is sent to the insurance company, along with a request for ABA service. Once we receive an authorization for the ABA service, we are ready to go!

Q2. Will my insurance cover ABA therapy?

​If your insurance is listed as one of the ones we accept, your insurance company will likely cover the cost of the ABA therapy. In some cases, there may be a co-pay. For more information, please complete the Contact Form and our Intake Specialist will be in touch with you within 48 hours. Currently, we accept Aetna, Anthem, Blue Shield, Magellan, and Health Net. 

Q3. Is ABA therapy right for my child?

ABA therapy repeatedly demonstrated its effectiveness among individuals on the autism spectrum for all ages. ABA is considered as an evidence-based practice.

Q4. Is my child eligible for ABA therapy?

If your child has received a diagnosis of autism, they are eligible to receive ABA services at SK Behavior and Learning.

Q5. What skills will be taught in ABA therapy?

A wide range of skills are taught in ABA therapy. These include communication, social, play, motor, self-care, joint attention, health and safety, etc. We will assess your child’s level of need in a wide range of domains and create a unique treatment plan and based on the results of the assessment.

Q6. How many hours will my child receive?

The hours of ABA therapy that your child receives will depend on the results of the initial assessment. One of our BCBA clinicians will complete a thorough assessment for your child and determine how many hours a week of ABA therapy will be best for your child. Weekly dosage ranges from 10 to 40 hours of 1:1 direct service.
